Engineering days

An engineering day is an effort estimate equal to one specialist working for one standard day; it measures work, not necessarily calendar duration.

Engineering days, sometimes called person-days, measure how much work is required to perform a task. In our case, that task is usually a smart contract audit. One engineering day is equivalent to one person working for one day, or eight hours.

If one of our audits has a total allocation of six engineering days, it could mean that:

  • one auditor works on the audit for six days
  • two auditors work together for three days each
