Glossary definition
A smart contract auditor is a security researcher who reviews blockchain systems for exploitable behavior, unsafe assumptions, and implementation errors.
In the traditional world, an auditor is a person who reviews and verifies the accuracy of financial records and checks that companies comply with tax laws. In the cryptocurrency ecosystem, an auditor is a person whose primary job is auditing smart contracts. Auditors identify vulnerabilities or bugs that could cause critical damage to a system before the smart contract is deployed on mainnet.
